Abstract
FOR crop production, soil should have a good crumb structure, the crumbs being highly adsorptive of water but stable when wetted. The ameliorative effect of certain microbial polysaccharides on soil structure has already been reported1, and it was of interest to see whether other constituents of micro-organisms have a similar effect.
