Abstract
THE appointment of a commission to investigate and report upon the future policy of certain State-aided institutions in South Africa is the subject of an announcement by the Department of Education in the Government Gazette (Pretoria) of October 8, 1948. It is understood that State-aided institutions include museums, art galleries and zoological gardens. The members of the commission are Dr. P. J. du Toit (chairman), Dr. G. von Welflingh Eybers, Prof. J. J. Smith, Dr. S. H. Haughton and Dr. S. H. Skaife.
