Abstract
SECTION A (Mathematics and Physics) of the British Association conducted a symposium on magnetism at Brighton on September 13, with Sir Lawrence Bragg, president of the Section, presiding over the meeting. Three papers were presented ; the first two dealt with materials and the last with a problem in metal physics. The title of the first, by D. A. Oliver, was "Recent Advances in Anisotropic Permanent Magnet Alloys" ; that of the second, by N. F. Astbury, was "Anisotropic Silicon Iron" ; while the concluding paper, by D. Shoenberg, was entitled "Magnetic Properties of Superconductors". A discussion followed the first two papers and the last one.
