Abstract
THE complex permittivity χ = χ' – jχ" of methyl palmitate, C15H31COO.CH3 (melting point (sharp) 29.7° C.), has been determined at room temperature (17–20° C.) over the frequency-range 50–3 × 1010 cycles/sec., with the results shown in the diagram, in which χ" is presented in terms of the tangent of the dielectric loss angle, tan δ = χ"/χ'. The 50–104 c./s. measurements were made on a Schering bridge ; the 104–108 c./s. ones by a reactance variation resonance method1, and the higher-frequency measurements by use of a number of cavity resonators2.
