Abstract
WE may be forgiven for a little scepticism regarding the highly coloured reports which have been current during the last few years concerning the possibilities and effects of ultraviolet radiation. It must be admitted, however, that there appears to be a considerable measure of truth in such accounts; the physicist must assist in disentangling the errors and in weighing the evidence.
