Abstract
THE exact relation of the actinium to the uranium-radium disintegration series has been a matter for discussion since the discovery of actinium. A. S. Russell (NATURE, Sept. 17, p. 402) has recently discussed the problem and made a new attempt to prediet the atomic weight of the longest-lived member of the series, protoactinium. He mentioned that experimental verification of the suggested values was difficult owing to the great difficulty of separating protoactinium from tantalum.
