Abstract
THE spring meetings of the Institution of Naval Archi-tects opened on Wednesday, April 5, at the rooms of the Royal Society of Arts. Owing to the death of Earl Cawdor, president of the institution, the chair was taken by Sir W. H. White, who announced that the council recommended the election of the Marquis of Bristol as president. The grant of a Royal Charter of Incorporation has received the Royal assent. The celebration of the jubilee of the institution, postponed from last year, will take the form of an International Congress on Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, opening on July 4.
