Western blot articles from across Nature Portfolio
The western blot is a method for detecting the presence and size of specific proteins. Proteins are first separated according to size or other physical properties by gel electrophoresis, then transferred to a membrane (blotted) before a detection step that uses labelled antibody to recognize the protein of interest.
