Photosystem II
Photosystem II is a multi-subunit protein embedded within the thylakoid membrane of chloroplasts, and the first protein complex involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. The protein complex uses light energy to oxidise two molecules of water to molecular oxygen, liberating four electrons and four hydrogen ions in the process.
