  Van Krevelen diagrams based on machine learning visualize feedstock-product relationships in thermal conversion processes

  Feedstock properties play a crucial role in thermal conversion processes for power generation, fuel production, or chemical synthesis, but understanding the influence of these many properties on treatment performance is a complex task. Here, a series of van Krevelen diagrams were generated to illustrate the impact of H/C and O/C ratios of feedstock on the products obtained from six commonly used thermochemical processes.

  Renewable diesel blendstocks produced by hydrothermal liquefaction of wet biowaste

  Wet biowaste from food processing and animal manure can be converted into biocrude oil using HTL. In this study, the authors combined distillation and esterification to upgrade biocrude into diesel blendstock and performed engine tests using it.
