Targeted bone remodelling articles from across Nature Portfolio
Targeted bone remodelling is bone remodelling in response to the mechanical microdamage that occurs constantly. The damaged bone is removed through targeted bone breakdown (resorption) by specialised cells called osteoclasts and new bone is formed by the action of cells called osteoblasts.
