Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a rare, chronic inflammation of the pancreas of presumed autoimmune aetiology. AIP can be difficult to differentiate from pancreatic cancer, but responds to steroid treatment. Type 1 AIP the most common form is associated with extrapancreatic manifestations; Type 2 AIP is primarily confined to the pancreas.
