Scientific American's New Science Blogging Network Launches (YES!)

You can skip this whole blog post to be honest... it's all happening over there!

The new science blogging network of Scientific American (part of Nature Publishing Group, as is Scitable) has been in the making the past nine months. Nine months of wicked teasing (and sleepless nights, I presume) by Bora Zivkovic, chief editor and community manager of the network! Nine months of anticipation and building excitement from science enthusiasts from around the world. So, "finally" is the most appropriate word to use here.

As one would expect from a publication that's won the 2011 National Magazine Award for General Excellence, Scientific American will be hosting some highly-respectable science bloggers such as SciCurious, Jennifer Jacquet and Jennifer Ouellette. However, the network also has scientists, science enthusiasts and science students (including Shuna Gould who manages the Scitable blog, ConferenceCast) in its ranks, encompassing the entire world of science's personnel.

In terms of topics covered, it's a pretty safe bet that you'll find a blog which covers that very field of science you're most enthusiastic (or geeky) about! Whether it's about anthropology or zoology, astronomy or neuroscience... you name it, they've got it.

All in all, Scientific American's new science blogging network is a welcome addition to the science blogosphere. I believe I speak for all science enthusiasts when I say that the more quality science blogs out there, the more science communication is being done, and the better it is for the general populace. Science blogs are now firm sources of science news and stories and a science blogging network from a publication of the caliber of Scientific American can only add to the experience.

So welcome and let the blogging commence (or rather, continue)!

I was going to do a list of Scientific American's new blogs but oh well... you should check them all!
