    Watson et al. obtained magnetic resonance images of the brains of 10- to 19-year-olds who had undergone the Fontan procedure for single-ventricle defects and compared them with those of healthy controls. They found significant and widespread reduction in regional gray matter. Several surgery-related issues were associated with reduction in volume, suggesting potentially modifiable risk factors.     Dubruc et al. studied the amount of C5b9 immunostaining in liver tissue from patients with neonatal hemochromatosis caused by gestational alloimmune liver disease, and compared the results with those for tissue from livers with and without iron overload. See the article on p. 712.

    Ellery et al. studied the effect of maternal creatinine supplementation on chronic kidney disease using a mouse model of birth asphyxia. Only males exhibited significant renal changes, which were ameliorated in those whose mothers were fed a diet supplemented with creatinine. See the article on p. 646.
