About the Editors

Chief Editor | Claire Greenhill, MSc, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD

Claire received her BSc in Zoology from Durham University. Claire then went on to obtain an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent at Canterbury where she furthered her interest in animal behaviour with a dissertation on the behaviour of captive pine martens. Claire joined Nature Research in September 2009 as an Editorial Assistant for the clinical Nature Reviews journals. In April 2010, Claire moved to Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Nature Reviews Endocrinology as an Assistant Editor; she was promoted to Associate Editor in January 2013, and to Senior Editor in September 2014, before becoming Chief Editor of Nature Reviews Endocrinology in February 2015.

Claire is based in the London, UK, office and is primarily interested in the areas of obesity, pancreatic hormones, gut hormones, autoimmunity, the adrenal gland and reproductive endocrinology.

Senior Editor | Katrin Legg, PhD, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD

Katrin received a BSc in Applied Biology from the University of Bath before completing a PhD at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research/University College London, UK. She then joined Springer Nature, working on Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology followed by Nature Reviews Rheumatology prior to stints on the Cell Migration Gateway (Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology) and the Lipidomics Gateway (Nature Reviews Drug Discovery). Katrin has worked as a freelance science editor and writer for several of the Nature Reviews journals and the British Journal of Cancer (among others) for well over a decade. At the end of March 2022, she rejoined Springer Nature as a part-time member of the Nature Reviews Endocrinology team. 

Katrin is based in the London office.

Senior Editor | Shimona Starling, PhD, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD

After gaining a Masters in clinical and experimental medicine, Shimona completed her PhD in viral pathogenesis at University College London, UK, and continued to work in the same group as a postdoctoral researcher, studying HIV assembly and dissemination. She joined the Nature Reviews Cross Journal Editorial Team in January 2017 and provided support to a range of titles including Nature Reviews Immunology, Nature Reviews Microbiology, Nature Reviews Genetics and Nature Reviews Neurology. She became a locum editor of Nature Reviews Disease Primers in February 2017, primarily handling papers on endocrinology, rheumatology, gastroenterology and hepatology. In January 2019, Shimona joined the Nature Reviews Endocrinology team as a Senior Editor.

Shimona is based in the London, UK, office and is primarily interested in the areas of bone, growth, metabolism, the parathyroid gland and the pituitary gland.

Associate Editor | Olivia Tysoe, PhD, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD

Olivia received her BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick. She then completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge, where she studied the immunogenicity of liver cellular therapies. She remained with the same research group as a postdoctoral researcher, investigating the impact of HLA matching on immunogenicity. She joined Nature Reviews as an Associate Editor for Nature Reviews Endocrinology in May 2021.

Olivia is based in the London, UK, office and is primarily interested in the areas of diabetes, endocrine cancer, cardiovascular endocrinology, neuroendocrinology, paediatric endocrinology and the thyroid gland.

The Reviews Cross-Journal Editorial Team works across the Nature Reviews portfolio, as the need arises, handling content in the life, clinical, physical, and social sciences.
