Mouse aortic ring embedded in a fibrin matrix. The confocal image shows a ring (∼0.2Tm in width) cut from a mouse aorta and embedded in a fibrin matrix. It was fed with growth medium containing no proangiogenic growth factors; consequently, endothelial cell sprouts have not grown.
