Immunofluorescence for the retrograde tracer Fluoro-Gold (green) and the neuronal marker NeuN (red) in the dorsal dentate gyrus (dDG). Local injection of Fluoro-Gold in the upper blade of dDG is retrogradely transported to the entorhinal cortex (EC). These glutamatergic projections are involved in the retrieval of heroin-paired contextual memory.
