npj Computational Materials makes all content freely available to all researchers worldwide, ensuring maximum dissemination of content through the nature.com platform. Content is published online on a weekly basis to provide timely communication to the community and keep publication times to a minimum. All papers published in the journal are open access, and each paper is clearly marked with the ‘Open’ icon next to the title.

npj Computational Materials articles are made open access online and freely accessible, immediately upon publication under a CC BY license (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License). Authors are also permitted to post the final, published PDF of their article on a website, institutional repository or other free public server, immediately on publication, and individual authors can submit the final accepted version of their manuscript to PubMed Central and Europe PubMed Central upon publication.

Authors whose papers are accepted for publication in npj Computational Materials are required to pay an article-processing charge(APC).
