About the Editors
Like the other Nature titles, Nature Genetics has no external editorial board. Instead, all editorial decisions are made by a dedicated team of professional editors, with relevant research and editorial backgrounds.
Chief Editor: Myles Axton
Myles Axton (ORCiD) has a degree in genetics from Cambridge University and got his Ph.D. from Imperial College, London in David M. Glover's cell cycle genetics research group. He continued with postdoctoral research at the University of Dundee, and then moved to the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research to study DNA replication in Drosophila development with Terry L. Orr-Weaver. From 1995 to 2003 he was a University Lecturer in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Oxford and a Tutorial Fellow of Balliol College. He joined Nature Genetics in 2003.
Senior Editor: Kyle Vogan
Kyle Vogan (ORCiD) obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University under the supervision of Philippe Gros, using the classical mouse mutants Splotch and Loop-tail to study the genetics of neural tube closure. For his postdoctoral work, he joined Cliff Tabin at Harvard Medical School where he studied the developmental mechanisms underlying vertebrate left-right axis specification. He joined the journal in 2003.
Senior Editor: Tiago Faial
Tiago Faial (ORCiD) obtained his Ph.D. from the Stem Cell and Developmental Biology program at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Jim Smith and Roger Pedersen, where he studied gene regulatory networks and signaling cascades that underpin mesoderm differentiation. For his postdoctoral work, Tiago joined Joanna Wysocka's laboratory at Stanford University where he studied the dynamics of epigenetic landscapes in pluripotency. He joined the Nature Genetics team in 2015.
Senior Editor: Catherine Potenski
Catherine Potenski (ORCiD) obtained her Ph.D. from the Microbiology program at New York University School of Medicine in Irina Derkatch's laboratory where she studied Q/N-rich protein aggregates and prions in the yeast model system. For her postdoctoral work, Catherine joined Hannah Klein's laboratory where she studied mechanisms of ribonucleotide-induced DNA damage in yeast. She joined the Nature Genetics team in 2015.
Associate Editor: Emily Marcinkevicius
Emily (ORCiD) obtained her Ph.D. from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Her doctoral work in the lab of Jennifer Zallen at Memorial Sloan Kettering focused on mechanisms of cell polarity and epithelial morphogenesis. For her postdoctoral work, she joined the lab of Mimi Shirasu-Hiza at Columbia University, where she studied the regulation of innate immunity by the circadian clock. Emily spent time as an editor at Developmental Cell before joining Nature Genetics in 2017.
Senior Editor: Wei Li
Wei Li (ORCiD) obtained her Ph.D. in Genetics and Genomics from Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Bin Han’s plant genomics research group. For her postdoctoral work, Wei moved to The Rockefeller University and then Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University at Anthony A. Sauve’s laboratory to study NAD+ and sirtuins in mammalian mitochondrial diseases and aging. She joined the Nature Genetics team in 2017.
