Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Gravitational Physics. The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 1 year.
The postholder would contribute to the ERC funded AG project Large Scale Structure constraints on General Relativity with a very specific focus of undertaking analytical and numerical estimates of gravitational wave production from black hole mergers in theories of modified gravity.
Development of a research programme with the PI in gravitational physics (which may include numerical modelling and/or data analysis).
Undertake specific calculations related to black holes in modified theories of gravity with a particular emphasis on scalar tensor theories.
Develop a framework for calculating and constraining quasi-normal modes in modified theories of gravity.
Interact and collaborate with the students and PDRAs currently funded or involved in the ERC AG project Large Scale Structure constraints on General Relativity.
Applicants should possess, or be very close to completing a doctorate in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in general relativity, black holes and gravitational waves.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate how they have worked in a team towards a specified goal, and have a publication record commensurate with their experience. .
The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach.
Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Pedro G Ferreira (firstname.lastname@example.org).
You will be required to upload a brief statement of research interests, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application. Referees are also required to submit their references to: email@example.com by the closing date.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 3 June 2019 can be considered.
