The School of Chemistry are looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the area of protocell research. The project involves the development of new methods for the construction of synthetic protocells and their collective behaviour as integrated communities with emergent properties and you will be working under the supervision of Professor Steve Mann.

Applicants should have experience in areas such as microcapsule preparation and characterization, fluorescence microscopy/spectroscopy, bioconjugation chemistry, microfluidics, FACS, cell-free gene expression, cell biology, as well as knowledge of soft matter systems and their characterization. An interest and background in protocell research, synthetic biology, origins of life research or microscale robotics preferred.

This is a full-time role, funded for 3 years, to start in July 2019.
