Platinum Informatics Ltd (https://www.pt-informatics.com) is a Dundee-based Informatics company, established in 2018, dedicated to reinventing the concept of integrated data management and analysis for laboratories in the 21st century. Platinum Informatics Ltd is a spin-out company from the Laboratory for Quantitative Proteomics at the University of Dundee, UK established by Professor Angus Lamond. The PI suite of integrated software tools has been created over a period of 10+ years of researcher-led development and testing within research laboratory environments.

Platinum Proteomics (PP) is a subsidiary of PI that provides next generation, multidimensional proteomics and big data informatics solution as a contract service. PP operates an innovative, end-to-end technology platform, combining start of the art, large-scale mass spectrometry-based proteomics with novel assay formats and custom built data analytics and visualisation tools.

About the Position

Platinum Proteomics is looking to recruit a highly motivated proteomics scientist to join our growing team. The vacancy is suitable for an experienced proteomics researcher looking to transition from academia into the biotech sector. Skills required include experience of experimental design, sample preparation and the analysis and interpretation of quantitative proteomics data. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and must have excellent communication skills. The role will include liaising with clients to advise on the design of experiments, sample preparation and analysis of MS data, together with preparation of reports and data interpretation. The successful candidate should demonstrate broad prior experience with different proteomic methods and analytical procedures, ideally including both Data Dependent and Data Independent Acquisition. A strong background in IT skills and data analysis will be an advantage. The role is for 12 months in the first instance, with the opportunity to extend.

  • Engaging with Pharma and Biotech clients and assisting with experimental design
  • Sample preparation
  • Analysis of mass spectrometry / proteomic data

  • Contribute to internal R&D projects
  • Preparing reports

Qualifications and experience:

Essential

  • Experience at PhD/postdoctoral level in mass spectrometry and proteomics
  • Experience with processing proteomics data
  • Available for occasional UK / International travel
  • Experience with using Orbitrap MS systems
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Highly organised and meticulous
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team Desirable
  • Knowledge of DIA data processing advantageous
  • Experience of cell and molecular biology methods
  • Bioinformatics experience
  • Familiarity with pathway analysis software
  • Scripting and/or coding experience
