Excellent customer service is a key goal of the journal.
We are seeking an Editorial Assistant to join the BMC Biology team, to play an essential role in providing administrative and analytical support to the Chief Editor. Communication is a key part of the role, including with the editorial team and other teams within the company.
Supporting the Chief Editor in administrative and analytical tasks.
Producing reports, for example on journal performance and competitor analysis.
Maintaining and updating the journal website.
Reporting, tracking and escalating technical problems.
Working with editors and the marketing team to promote the journal, managing the monthly email campaigns and social media promotion
Attending meetings regarding new systems and workflows.
Training of new staff on systems and workflows.
Supporting the editorial team to ensure timely publication of research articles and commissioned content.
Experience, skills and qualifications
Educated to degree level in biology or biomedical sciences.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
High level of computer literacy with experience of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Enthusiasm for working with and reporting data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
Flexible working style, able to adapt to changing priorities.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
Advanced Excel skills
This position will be based in our offices in London Kings Cross.
