We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the Breast Cancer Now-funded project: “Evaluation of metabotropic glutamate receptor 3 (mGluR3) as a therapeutic target in breast cancer”.
The goal of this project is to investigate how targeting mGluR3 could have therapeutic benefit whilst exploring the fundamental mechanisms by which glutamate regulates breast cancer metastasis. The project will deploy genetically-engineered preclinical models, pharmacological inhibition, and advanced imaging, metabolomic and immunological techniques to characterise events in metastatic target organs such as reshaping of the immune cell microenvironment and remodelling of the stroma and tissue architecture. The post-holder will will be supervised by Dr Iain Macpherson and situated in Professor Norman’s laboratory at the CRUK Beatson Institute and this post has funding for 3 years in the first instance.
