Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team-player to join the Oxford Biomedical Data Science (OBDS) training programme in the role of Bioinformatics Research Software Engineer. You will play a key role in both the development of novel computational biology software, and training biomedical scientists in data science.
At the MRC WIMM Centre for Computational Biology (CCB), we work alongside scientists and clinicians to realise the potential of big data in biology by exploiting complex information to make discoveries that benefit human health. The CCB encompasses an international team of over 50 computational biologists, working closely with 500 lab-based scientists and clinicians.
You will hold a PhD or MSc in a quantitative discipline (e.g. bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, physics, statistics, engineering or mathematics). You will have experience of working in a Linux environment and be proficient in software development in Python, following software engineering best practices. You will have experience and enthusiasm for developing and delivering training in computational/data science methods.
The position is available fixed-term for 3 years, funded by a Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) Award and the OBDS Training Programme.
