Postdoctoral Fellow/Pediatrics – 19000000PG
UTHSC-ORNL Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN, is seeking for a postdoctoral fellow with a one-year appointment with possibility of renewal contingent upon performance.
The candidate will work under supervision of Drs. Robert Davis and Oguz Akbilgic to implement statistical modeling, machine learning, and deep learning for discovery and for clinical diagnosis and prediction. These problems include, but not limited to, prediction of organ failure in patients with sickle cell disease, atrial fibrillation detection and prediction, and early identification of cardiotoxicity induced cardiomyopathy. The candidate is expected to have experience in the classification, clustering, and prediction algorithms to carry out such research. However, experience specifically on aforementioned clinical problems is not a must.
The candidate will work closely with Drs. Robert Davis and Oguz Akbilgic and other PIs in the projects to carry out analysis, report the results, and prepare manuscripts for peer reviewed journals and conferences.
The Center for Biomedical Informatics provides the UTHSC research community with customized biomedical and clinical informatics applications to help manage complex translational and clinical research needs. Our mission is to facilitate innovative biomedical informatics research, big-data epidemiology and health services research across UTHSC in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory through provision of cutting-edge clinical research informatics and data management.
Ideal candidate will have doctorate degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science or a closely related field. The candidate is expected to have strong background in most of the following methodologies.
- Statistical Modeling: Linear Regression, Logistic Regression
- Machine Learning: Decision Trees, Random Forest, Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, KNN, k-means, Self-Organizing Maps, Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks.
- Signal Processing: Noise removal, artifact detection, and feature extraction.
- Python programming language is a must. Experience in Keras and Tensorflow is a plus.
- Experience in Matlab, R, and SQL is a plus.
