Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Functional Genomics
Applications are invited for a 5 year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Roland Schmitz, head of the department Molecular Cytology and Functional Genomics at the Institute of Pathology, Justus Liebig University Giessen. The Schmitz laboratory uses multidisciplinary genetic, biochemical and immunological approaches to identify and functionally characterize genetic alterations that contribute to the transformation of B-cell lymphomas. A major project is on the genetic and functional dissection of pediatric lymphomas with the overarching goal of discovering novel therapies and biomarkers for children with high risk tumors.
The applicant will have access to unique genetic models and a wide array of state-of-the-art functional high-throughput approaches available in the Schmitz laboratory. An ideal candidate should have a strong interest in cancer biology and the understanding of the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of hematological diseases.
The candidate should have received (or expect to receive soon) a PhD degree in any field of life sciences and have the ability to work both in a team as well as independently. Prior experience with mammalian cell culture, retroviral expression systems and molecular biology methods is required. Previous experience with analysis of high-throughput omics datasets and/or experience with computer programming is a major plus.
