Assistant professor position in single-particle cryo-EM studies of P4-ATPase lipid flippases

A position as assistant professor (without tenure track) in single-particle cryoEM studies of P4-ATPase lipid flippases is available from June 1st 2019 to September 30th, 2021, or as soon as possible after, in the laboratory of Prof. Poul Nissen at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University (Campus Aarhus).

The project is part of the BRAINSTRUC research program funded by the Lundbeck Foundation and the Danish node for neuroscience of the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine (DANDRITE).

Aarhus University has established state-of-the-art cryoEM facilities centered on a Titan-Krios microscope equipped with a Gatan K2 Quantum detector that will be available to the project.

The project will be focused on structural studies of P4-ATPase complexes with a particular focus on their ATPase coupled lipid transport mechanism and their role in brain cells. The candidate must present a significant experience and strong track record in cryo-EM studies of membrane proteins. The position will have a main focus on structural studies in lipidic environments such as native membrane nanodiscs, or lipid nanoparticles. The position will also involve teamwork and project supervision for other postdocs and PhD and MSc students on single-particle cryo-EM studies of membrane proteins and complexes.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
