The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (MPIMG) is an international research institute with about 350 employees, dedicated to functional genomics, with a particular focus on gene regulation networks and epigenomic control mechanisms in mammalian development and disease processes.
The MPIMG invites applications for a
Head of the Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics/Metabolomics Core Facility
The Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics/Metabolomics Core Facility supports scientists with state-of-the-art quantitative proteomics and metabolomics technologies with a focus on protein-protein interactions, posttranslational modifications, and global omics profiling and targeted approaches (https://www.molgen.mpg.de/69160/ Mass_Spectrometry).
We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative and service-oriented scientist with experience in mass spectrometry, proteomics and metabolomics. The main responsibilities of the successful candidate are:
- Manage the day-to-day work of the facility and the execution of the users’ projects.
- Advise the customers of the facility on technical aspects, project design, and data interpretation.
- Monitor important new technologies in the proteomics/metabolomics fields, and evaluate their potential implementation at the facility in accordance with the needs of research groups.
- Organize courses at the postgraduate level to share the knowledge of proteomics and metabolomics with graduate students and postdocs.
The facility includes one very experienced staff technician and a bioinformatician.
Candidates must have a university degree (master, diploma or equivalent) and PhD in life sciences, excellent knowledge and professional experience in the field of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, especially proteomics, as well as profound expertise in data analysis, and a strong interest in establishing collaborative projects and cooperations with scientists from different disciplines.
