Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 with a discretionary range to £43,267 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Professor David Stuart’s group located in the Division of Structural Biology (STRUBI), Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics (WHG).


We currently have the opportunity to recruit a highly-motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work on a project funded by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Oxford Institute, incorporating structural biology and multidisciplinary bio-imaging approaches to study the viral entry, replication, assembly of picornaviruses and flaviviruses and herpesviruses.


You will have a PhD in the structural biology, biochemistry, virology, neuroscience or a related field and have research experience in production of viral proteins for structure/function studies, Crystallisation and X-ray crystallography, or single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, analysis of viruses or viral proteins. You will have experience in analysis of host virus interactions and with multiple biophysical and cell-based assays, to validate structural information. You will have an excellent publication record, in leading refereed international journals. You will have the ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project, working as part of a team and show the ability to organise and prioritise your own work with minimal supervision. Having excellent communication skills is also essential.


The position is a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2020 and is funded by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Oxford Institute.
