A PhD position in Data Mining and Machine Learning is available at the Data Science and Statistics group of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMADA), University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark. The appointment will be made for a term of three years with a competitive salary and will follow the general PhD. study programmes at SDU. The ideal starting date is 1 September 2019 (negotiable).

The research focus will be on the development and evaluation of data mining and machine learning methods.

The candidate must have (at the starting time of the contract) an MSc degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or an equivalent subject. If the candidate does not have an MSc degree at the time of application, a recommendation letter from the supervisor of the master’s thesis must be provided, stating the topic of the master’s thesis and the expected date of obtaining the degree, together with an overview of courses taken and grades obtained. Experience in data mining and machine learning, fluency in English, and excellent programming abilities in relevant languages (e.g., Python, R, Java) are required. Experience with scientific publishing is a plus.
