Base4 has developed a completely novel chemistry which releases nucleotides from DNA and generates a bright fluorescent signal from each individual nucleotide, allowing us to detect them with impressive accuracy.
We are seeking creative, ambitious biochemists to join our development team to work on the development and optimisation of this new sequencing chemistry as well as on extending its capabilities beyond the detection of the four common DNA bases.
You will ideally be qualified to PhD level with a strong background in enzymology and molecular biology. The role requires a mastery of standard molecular biology techniques, plus an ability and interest in applying them in unusual or novel ways. The ideal candidate would have experience in at least some of the following areas:
• Development and optimisation of DNA preparation techniques
• Enzymatic modification of DNA
• Oligonucleotide design
• Chemical/oligonucleotide purification and analysis
• Library preparation for DNA sequencing
To be a successful candidate you should be able to thrive in a team of competent, intellectually competitive people. Creative thinking coupled with intellectual curiosity and a desire to tackle substantial problems is essential. The successful candidate must, by the start of their employment, have permission to work in the UK.
