Multiple PhD students
(in the following topics: Proteome Biology of Solid Tumors; Proteome Biology of Cardiac Remodelling; Liquid Biopsy Biobanking and Proteome Profiling; Proteomics Informatics and Software Development)
The positions are funded by the ERA PerMed scheme or by intramural sources. The Schilling laboratory focuses on translational and biomedical proteomics. We combine explorative, targeted, and spatially resolved mass spectrometry based proteomics with bioinformatic tools. In addition, we pursue in vitro functional studies to mechanistically underpin our proteomic findings. Based on a number of recently developed and funded projects, we now have multiple PhD positions available in any of the following areas: proteome biology of solid tumors; proteome biology of cardiac remodelling; liquid biopsy biobanking and proteome profiling; proteomics informatics and software development. These are highly translational projects, in which your PhD work can make a true impact! We are seeking highly motivated PhD candidates to work at the intersection of mass-spectrometry based proteomics and disease biology. We welcome applicants who aim to learn new skills.
The ideal candidate should have:
- a life sciences degree (e.g. biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, pharmacology) or a degree in bioinformatics or computer science
- very good scientific writing skills and fluency (both oral and written) in English
- a great, pro-active and open-minded work attitude, a strong interest in translational research, and very * good problem-solving skills
- a productive and friendly work environment with international collaborations
- projects which ample opportunities for scientific publishing
- close and direct supervision and intensive training
The positions (65 %) are available as of July 1st 2019 for up to 3 years.
