Closing date: 25 April 2019

The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £37,412 – £41,683 per annum inclusive of £3,223 London Weighting Allowance per annum.

This post will be a fixed-term contract for 2 years, 6 months. This is a full-time 100 % full time equivalent

The lab of Niwa Ali is primarily located between the Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine (CSCRM) at Kings College London and the Francis Crick Institute. Our lab focuses on studying the immunological interactions between tissue-resident immune cells and epithelial stem cells. Our previous work has uncovered a role for tissue-resident Regulatory T cells (Tregs) in directly facilitating epithelial stem cell function during skin regeneration (Ali et al, Cell, 2017; Ali et al, Immunology, 2017).

The main goal of our research is to: (i) define the in vivo signals that induce and maintain tissue-regenerative immune cells in barrier sites such as lung, skin, and oral cavity, (ii) decipher the functional impact of immune cells on stem cell differentiation using adult derived organoids and mouse models, and (iii) apply this knowledge to new strategies for tissue regenerative disorders.

The post-doctoral researcher will work on an MRC/UK Regenerative Medicine Programme (UKRMP) funded project aimed at understanding how lung immune resident cells, primarily Tregs, functionally impact adult alveolar progenitor cell activity in the lungs using sophisticated mouse models, human organoids, multi-colour flow cytometry, CyTOF, and single cell RNA-sequencing.

The selection process will include a panel interview, and a presentation.
