NNRCO is our new translational research institute focused on biology and target discovery related to type 2 diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases. In addition, NNRCO scientists are an integral part of the Novo Nordisk Global Drug Discovery (GDD) unit, which specialises in discovery and development of biological medicines for the treatment of Diabetes, Obesity, Cardiovascular & Liver diseases. Cross-country collaborations within the organisation as well as with external partners are part of our working modus.
The main focus for the new Department of Insulin Resistance will be the discovery, validation and early pipeline progression of innovative first in class insulin resistance and broadly related MOA targets (for example in adipose, muscle and/or liver tissue). NNRCO has a strong emphasis in applying human phenotypic, genetic and multi-omic data to target discovery using human cellular disease models, functional genomics and phenotypic screens. The scope is broad and you will be expected to use creativity and strategic judgement to realize the scientific goals with considerable autonomy. The entire department will be expected to help establish and support a strong and healthy working culture in an agile and creative environment with a positive attitude and ‘can do’ approach. The Department of Insulin Resistance will be a unique hybrid experimental team that places industry and academic scientists in the same labs to improve translational innovation. As Director, you will be building and leading a state-of-the-art Department of Insulin Resistance recognised worldwide for its innovative approach to research with specific focus on first-in-class targets that have strong translational evidence. You will hold the day-to-day managerial responsibility of the department’s employees, as well as define and setting the strategic direction for research in Insulin Resistance, aligned with the targets and priorities set by GDD at Novo Nordisk. The position will report into the NNRCO Site Head and be a member of the Site management team.
PhD and/or MD, or equivalent. You must have significant post-doctoral training/experience in a directly relevant field and have established internationally recognized excellence. Experience in pharmaceutical target discovery in human-centric academic science is a prerequisite. Having independently led an academic or industrial research team for several years with a proven track record will be preferential for this position.
