The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to make a significant contribution to the strategy, communication and future of the Institute. CIMR is an interdisciplinary biomedical research institute, part of the University Cambridge Clinical School and sited on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It has a strong track record of delivering cutting edge medical cell biology research, and just celebrated its 20th anniversary. CIMR is now at an exciting time of renewal, with space coming available within the Institute for recruitment of new teams, and a new Director starting shortly who will help shape a new five year strategy.

The post holder will work with the incoming Director of the CIMR and current faculty to develop and articulate a new scientific strategy for the Institute. They will then work together with a close-knit team within CIMR to translate that strategy into action, leading funding applications and institute-wide projects, contributing to recruitment strategy, and leading institute-level communications outputs.

The successful candidate will have undergraduate training relevant to cell biology or medicine, and extensive experience in scientific strategic management. They will have excellent writing and communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills in listening, team working and consensus building. They will be independent, motivated, and committed to the long-term success of CIMR.

The position is supported for 3 years initially, with the expectation that further funding will be sought to extend the position to be a long-term feature of the Institute.

This appointment is full-time, but we welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.

The full incremental salary range for the position is advertised in order to demonstrate the progression of the Grade. In the majority of case appointments will be made at the Grade minimum: only in very specific circumstances can a higher salary be offered.
