The School of Physics, University of Bristol seeks outstanding candidates for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in experimental condensed matter physics. We are particularly interested to complement our existing strengths in either “soft, active or biological materials” or “quantum materials”. Current research includes studies of high temperature superconductivity, novel metal oxides, self-assembly, slow dynamics and active matter systems. Our key experimental techniques include x-ray/neutron/light scattering, super-resolution optical microscopy, the use of low-temperatures/high magnetic fields and materials growth and characterisation. There is a strong experimental and theoretical community in condensed matter physics across the Science Faculty.
The successful candidate will establish an internationally leading independent research programme and deliver excellence in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. They will also demonstrate a strong commitment to securing grant funding. An appointment may be made at the Lectureship/Senior Lectureship/Reader level, depending on the experience and calibre of the candidate.
