Junior Group Leader in Virology (f/m/d)

The Heinrich Pette Institute, Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (HPI), is committed to research on the biology of different human viruses as well as the pathogenesis of viral diseases. We invite applications for a position of an independent Junior Group Leader (f/m/d) starting in fall 2019.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree and have postdoctoral experience with a track record of successful research in the field of virology. The position is for an initial 6-year appointment with the possibility of a 2-year extension. Adequate laboratory space including joint use of BSL3 laboratories, equipment, technical and scientific assistance (1 technician, 1 postdoc) and annual core funding will be offered. Additionally, access to HPI’s Technology Platforms, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure for flow cytometry, imaging, next generation sequencing, and small animal models will be provided. The acquisition of additional extra mural funding is expected. Payment and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TV-AVH (salary agreement for public service employees).

The research of the independent Junior Research Group will focus on human pathogenic viruses. Contributions to the overarching research topics of the HPI and cooperation within the institute are encouraged
The HPI collaborates closely with local universities and non-university research institutions and is a founding member of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB).
