The Hannover Medical School (MHH), founded in 1965, is a site of excellence for biomedical research in Germany. Our research and patient care sets national and international standards. We are also part of regional biomedical networks for achieving outstanding interdisciplinary translational science.
We are recruiting a
TEAM LEADER (M/F/D) TO OPTIMIZE HUMANIZED MOUSE MODELS FOR IMMUNE-ONCOLOGY RESEARCH
This full-time position at the MHH is initially funded for two years. Desirable start date is 1st of June 2019 or earlier. Deadline for applications is 30th of April 2019, but late applications will be considered until the position is filled.
The research will be conducted at the MHH – Regenerative Immune Therapy Applied Laboratory (Principal Investigator: Prof. Renata Stripecke), see http://www.stripecke-mhh.de/
This post-doctoral position is part of an academic collaboration financed by “The Jackson Laboratory”, see
Using novel technologies, the consortium will use mice reconstituted with a human immune system to generate preclinical models for the immune-oncology field. Your main task as a team leader is to generate and functionally validate vectors expressing human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) in transgenic immune deficient mice transplanted with human hematopoietic cells. You will assist in the regulatory requirements for animal care, plan the logistics of the experiments, supervise the technician and organize the core data. You will coordinate mouse handling experiments, harvest of tissues and analyses of T and B cell development and function. You will analyze the data, prepare graphs and tables and will prepare reports and manuscripts.
Veterinarians, biologists or biotechnologists with PhD title obtained within last 5 years, qualified for experiments with mice (FELASA B certification or equivalent required), team leading communication and reporting skills and strong publication record. Candidates should have demonstrated solid previous experience with: mouse handling (anesthesia, human hematopoietic stem cell transfer, small surgeries, immunizations, collection of tissues and preparation for histology, optical imaging analyses), immunologic analyses (multicolor flow cytometry for characterization of human T and B cells), molecular biology (lentiviral vector construction and production, single cell RNA sequencing), bioinformatics. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, responsibility, teamwork, fluency (verbal and written) in English and German, experience in writing animal study protocols, computer skills for data analyses and presentation and reports.
The salary ranking will be based on the university pay scheme for researchers (m/f/d) and will be commensurate with qualifications (100 % TV-L 13 or TV-L 14 – 38,5 hours per week). The Hannover Medical School is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified women are therefore particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants with disabilities are treated with preference given comparable qualification.
If you are interested in applying, please send by email a cover letter explaining your motivation, full CV, diplomas and certificates and names of 3 persons able to provide reference letters to:
