The Department of Bioscience, Aarhus University, invites applications for a position as full professor within the field of vegetation dynamics. The position is available as soon as possible.
We seek an internationally competitive researcher with a strong academic track record in cross-scale integration of vegetation dynamics. The research integrates field-based and remotely-sensed data at high spatial and temporal resolution collected across large spatial scales and long time-spans, as well as ecoinformatic approaches for modelling past, ongoing and future dynamics. The applicant is expected to have built a research group which masters the integration of satellite- and drone-based remote sensing with ecoinformatics and basic vegetation and biodiversity research. Furthermore, the applicant is expected to establish collaborations with related research environments at Aarhus University, across Denmark, and to document established relations with research labs within the field internationally. The appointee must participate in the teaching of courses on both undergraduate and graduate level, supervise master and PhD-students, and contribute to the development of PhD courses.

- international top-level research profile and well established international network within the field
- proven ability to attract substantial external research funding
- proven ability of excellent scientific leadership, teaching and students’ supervision

The Department of Bioscience
The Department of Bioscience hosts research programmes, teaching curricula and consultancy that cover all major biological sub-disciplines. The Department conducts world-class research in the areas of Aquatic Biology and Ecology, Arctic Environment and Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Conservation Biology, Genetics and Evolution, Microbiology, and Zoophysiology. The Department currently employs approximately 350 academic and technical staff and 75 PhD students. In addition to the PhD-programme, BSc and MSc study programmes with close to 500 students enrolled are offered.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. Formalities and salary range
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
Research activities will be evaluated in relation to actual research time. Thus, we encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities, in order to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity.
