Professorship (W3) in “Infectiology of the Respiratory Tract”
Pending successful evaluation after the initial 5-year term, the candidate will be given the Opportunität to be granted tenure after positive evaluation.
MHH aims to strengthen the area of infection medicine in the Dept. of Pulmonology, with focus on the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions, the susceptibility to infection and the resistance to anti-infective drugs.
This new position is part of MHH’s research focus infection/immunity with the aim to investigate individual factors of infectious diseases (e.g. sex, age, immune status, pathogen). The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the scientific cooperation with the German Center for Lung Research, the German Center for Infection Research, the Cluster of Excellence RESIST (Resolving Infection Susceptibility) and the SFB 900 (Chronic Infections). A cooperation with other clinics and departments within the structures of the Center of Competence Infectiology at MHH is generally desired. A close collaboration with the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine and University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover is a particular concern.
The successful applicant should hold outstanding academic qualifications and have proven experience in the field of acute and chronic respiratory diseases, and host-pathogen interaction.
The successful candidate will have considerable experience and be especially committed to student teaching and the advancement of young scientists. Teaching responsibilities include interdisciplinary academic teaching within the degree course “Medicine”, the MD/PhD programs of Hannover Biomedical Research School and the Physician Scientist program.
Applicants must fulfil the employment requirements of § 25, Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony (NHG), namely a postdoctoral lecturing qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent scientific achievement. Further information can be obtained on request.
