The Fundamental Research Division of CEA-Grenoble invites applications for a permanent researcher position in experimental solid-state physics with a focus on spin-based quantum information processing in silicon nanoelectronic devices. By joining a multidisciplinary team of physicists and engineers the successful candidate is expected to take active part in the development of a scalable quantum processor fabricated using silicon technology.
The successful candidate will be in charge of designing and conducting experiments with silicon spin qubits, going from the development of high-fidelity quantum gates to the implementation of quantum algorithms in multi-qubit systems. Besides constituting an essential step toward a scalable quantum processor, this quantum engineering work will create unprecedented opportunities to explore fundamental questions related to the quantum coherence of entangled spin-qubit arrays.
The successful candidate is expected to work in close synergy with the existing quantum-silicon team, and to supervise the activity of students and postdocs. A strong team spirit is therefore required.
Applicants should own a PhD in physics and have a postdoctoral research experience of at least 3 years. A solid background in quantum information processing and a strong expertise in the experimental manipulation of solid-state qubit devices and related rf techniques will be highly valued.
Applicants are expected to hold a strong record of excellent research achievements in internationally recognized scientific environments.
This new researcher position is affiliated to the PHELIQS laboratory of CEA.
It is intended to support a growing research effort carried out in close collaboration with other research laboratories on site.
The recently established Grenoble Quantum Silicon Group (https://www.quantumsilicongrenoble.eu/)gathers engineers from the CEA Research and Technology Division, mostly at CEA-LETI, and physicists from the CEA Fundamental Research Division and from the Néel Institute of CNRS, all in Grenoble.
This unique collaborative initiative brings together complementary expertise in various fields including silicon device technology, leveraging LETI’s industrial scale CMOS facility, quantum physics, cryoelectronics and cryogenics.
Our endeavor is supported by the EU through different funding programs, including a 14 M€ ERC Synergy grant.
Located in the French Alps and surrounded by a stunning natural environment, the international city
of Grenoble hosts an extremely rich ecosystem formed by public research organizations (CEA, CNRS, ESRF, ILL) and high-tech companies. In addition, the Grenoble Alpes University attracts a large number of students who can benefit from high-level academic training in a broad range of disciplines.
In particular, a doctoral training program on quantum engineering was recently established.
