Professor (m/f/d) in the field of “Healthy and Sustainable Construction”

The aim of teaching and research at the European Campus Rottal-Inn, which belongs to the Deggendorf Institute of Technology, is to educate students in the design of sustainable and future-oriented buildings in the sense of a health-promoting environment.

Based on a deep understanding of evidence-based criteria in design, the essence of the professorship lies in the field of sustainable and healthy building. We are looking for personalities with proven practical and theoretical knowledge and experience in the fields of building materials, building physics and biology, architecture and certification systems for sustainable buildings.

The focus is on the application of the material, building physics and building biology laws to achieve a healthy and comfortable building climate by means of sustainable building concepts and permanently functional, sustainable systems for intelligent energy supply.

In addition to teaching, the tasks include, above all, collegial cooperation in the development of teaching concepts for sustainable education (ESD) and support for the establishment of the European Campus Rottal-Inn.

We are looking for a personality who represents the specialist area at the interface of technology and health with regard to a healthy and sustainable building design. In addition, close cooperation is desired at the interfaces for the sustainable design of energy-efficient buildings.

There are excellent opportunities to create innovative teaching and research structures under the umbrella of the European Campus Rottal-Inn. In addition, one of the tasks is to set up new laboratory facilities, which will enable students to receive practical, modern training. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and in the management of R&D projects is desirable. The areas of application also include involvement in the self-administration of the university and in the development and conception of relevant courses of study.

Due to the international orientation of the campus, the majority of the courses are held in English. Therefore, a high level of written and spoken German and English are required.

In addition, courses in the basic subjects of engineering are expected. The profile is rounded off by a longer stay abroad.


  • University (of applied sciences) degree;
  • Special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually proven by a doctorate;
  • Pedagogical aptitude;
  • special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice after completion of university studies, of which at least three years must have been pursued outside the higher education sector; evidence of professional practice pursued outside the higher education sector may, in special cases, be furnished by the fact that over a period of at least five years a substantial part of the professional activity was carried out in cooperation between the higher education institution and non-university professional practice.

Those who have not yet reached the age of 52 can be appointed as civil servants.

The position is suitable for severely disabled people. Severely handicapped applicants will be given preferential employment if their suitability, qualifications and professional performance are otherwise essentially the same.

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology aims to increase the proportion of women in scientific staff.

The European Campus Rottal-Inn is centrally located. It is located in the charming district town of Pfarrkirchen, which belongs to the administrative district of Lower Bavaria and is in the southeast of Germany.

The city between the Danube and the Inn is situated idyllically and offers many leisure activities. Pfarrkirchen has excellent school and educational facilities. Attractive cities nearby are Salzburg, Regensburg and Passau, Munich International Airport is only a 90-minute drive away. The proximity to Austria and the Czech Republic puts the district town in the centre of Europe.
