Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine
(LKCMedicine) established in September 2010 is a partnership between Imperial
College London and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The School
operates from two campuses – Yunnan Campus at Nanyang Technological University
and the newly established Clinical Sciences Building at Novena. Our primary
healthcare partner is the National Healthcare Group (NHG) which comprises an
integrated network of primary healthcare polyclinics, acute care hospitals such
as Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and national specialist centres. LKCMedicine
delivers a new five-year undergraduate medical programme leading to a joint
MBBS degree awarded by Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological
We are currently recruiting a Research Fellow
in Bioinformatics to work in the area of translational respiratory
research investigating infectious and immune consequences in chronic
inflammatory lung diseases such as asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis. The
individual should have a track record in working with high-dimensional
biological data including NGS, generation of high impact publications, be
self-driven, organized, have the ability to design experiments and analytical
pipelines independently while possessing good team working, interpersonal and
communication skills. Prior ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate
students is required.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to
work with an international and multidisciplinary team of investigators
including close collaborations with respiratory and infectious disease
clinicians nationally and the other schools within the wider NTU community
where the lab already has existing collaborative projects.
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent and
prior post-doctoral experience in the Bioinformatics or a related analytical discipline.
Applicants should have experience in the following areas:
Bioinformatic proficiencies: Strong
mathematical & statistics analytics background and strong programming
skills with fluency in at least one languange (e.g. Python, R) with
experience in database management and scaling computationally intense
analytical pipelines on in-house or cloud based infrastructures.
experience in working with clinicians, clinician-scientists and handling
patient derived data/specimens would be of benefit but not essential.
record of publications in well-respected peer-reviewed journals and the
ability to write independently is necessary.
Prior management skills
in procurement and purchasing, including the ability to interact with HPC engineers
and personnel and negotiate with third party software and service
Willingness to teach and
supervise students in bioinformatics is essential.
