Job description:

As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

One Postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual at the Institute of Lungbiology "Cellular Therapeutics in Chronic Lung Disease" in the lab of Yuval Rinkevich. If you wish to identify fundamental cellular and molecular principles of tissue/organ regeneration, and to develop a knowledge basis for therapeutic strategies in clinical use we are looking forward to your application.

Our lab explores how tissues/organs regenerate following injury and at multiple levels of biological organization, from the level of whole organisms to the level of single cells. We employ state-of-the-art mouse genetics, multicolor "Rainbow" and Tetrachimera mouse models, surgery models in rodents, flow cytometry, cell and molecular biology approaches to pursue our diverse questions on how tissues/organs regenerate in nature, and what underlies the basis for the diversities of regeneration outcomes between different developmental stages, different organs, and taxon groups. Our work therefore carries both basic, clinical and evolutionary implications.

Your Qualifications

Candidates should ideally have a background (Ph.D) in either cell/molecular biology, immunology, virology, stem cell biology, or developmental biology, and be firmly trained in standard techniques of molecular biology and cell biology
