Salary: Grade 5: £25,482 - £30,395 p.a.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced laboratory technician to join the new research group of Dr Anjali Kusumbe at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in Oxford. You will perform and manage cell and molecular biology experimental procedures, including flow cytometry, immunostaining, cell culture and mouse experiments. Alongside this, you will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day smooth functioning of the laboratory. You will also have responsibilities in laboratory administration and safety management.

You will be responsible for overseeing and assisting with scientific processes, while ensuring quality control. You will be expected to process samples, and monitor, record and report results while also maintaining a database and working towards the team’s collective deadlines and goals. Furthermore, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment, alongside assisting with student and colleague inductions. Finally you will be expected to act as a point of reference for new team members and liaise with other members of your group regarding experiments and general laboratory procedures.

You should be educated to at least A-level or an equivalent science qualification, and have experience of working in a laboratory setting and with hazardous chemicals. You must have strong attention to detail and have the ability to organise your own work load and take initiative. Furthermore, supervisory experience and experience of flow cytometry and immunostaining would be desirable.

This is a full-time post funded for 2 years in the first instance.
