Neuroimmunology Laboratory
Division of Internal Medicine
MD Anderson Cancer Center
Houston, Texas

The Laboratory of Neuroimmunology has a focus on basic and translational research to identify mechanisms underlying the neurotoxic side effects of cancer treatment with the long term goal to develop preventive or curative interventions.

For two projects on neuropathic and inflammatory pain we are looking for two highly motivated post-doctoral researchers/research scientists. The post docs/research scientists will each be supported by a research assistant. One project focusses on chemotherapy-induced neuropathy and the mechanisms underlying a curative intervention that we recently identified. The other project aims at understanding how a protein that is produced by fibroblasts exerts its key pain promoting effects.

The team led by Drs. Annemieke Kavelaars and Cobi J. Heijnen is part of the Neuroimmunology Laboratory that is shared by 5 well-funded PIs and provides highly interactive, collaborative and international research focused environment. We highly value hard work, curiosity, innovation, teamwork and professional development in combination with a healthy work/life balance.

A Ph.D. in Neuroscience, physiology or equivalent is required. Experience with pain measurements or other behavioral analyses in mice, cellular signaling, biochemistry, and confocal microscopy is preferred. The positions are available immediately.

For further information please contact Dr. Annemieke Kavelaars (akavelaars@mdanderson.org)
