Senior Scientific Officer
Tumour Immune Priming Laboratory (Dr. Ed Roberts)
Starting Salary from £24,776 to £41,536 (Depending on experience)
The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and is one of the leading research institutes in Europe. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies, with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics, and in vivo models.
Our innovative and ambitious research themes focus on understanding the regulation of the tumour microenvironment and cancer metabolism, in particular:
· Intrinsic cancer cell vulnerabilities
· Interplay between the tumour microenvironment, metastasis and recurrence
· Biology of early disease, aimed at developing a ‘Precision Prevention’ approach
We are looking to appoint a dedicated researcher as a Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) in the group headed by Dr. Edward Roberts, which has interests in dendritic cell biology and their regulation of anti-tumour immune responses. You will assist in running research projects on anti-tumour immune priming both in vitro and in vivo. You will participate in collaborative research projects, contributing to their development experimentally and intellectually. The post includes hands-on research and lab-management tasks.
You will have a relevant degree or PhD, with a record of significant research experience in cell biology and in vivo models. Excellent organisational and communication skills together with previous knowledge of immunology research would be an advantage and experience of training/mentorship or lab management is desirable, but not essential.
For informal enquiries please email Dr. Ed Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org
