Harvard Medical School
Paulsson lab in the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School is
recruiting an Associate Research Director.
This position works in partnership with the PI (Johan Paulsson) to lead several
challenging and exciting projects at the interface of bacterial physiology and biophysics.
We are looking for a broadly trained bacterial geneticist excited about fundamental
mechanisms as well as method development. The position involves three major
activities: making intellectual contributions on projects related to bacterial
genetics, physiology and evolution; managing a small team of technical staff to
engineer proteins and circuits at the level of deep mutational scans and complex
synthetic circuits; and serving as a scientific project manager for grant
submissions and reports. The Associate Lab Director will be a key
intellectual partner and collaborator for many lab members, and recognized as
an author on publications and patents whenever appropriate.
A PhD in a biology-related field is
required, with extensive and in-depth experience in bacterial genetics and
physiology, preferably E. coli. Postdoctoral
experience is preferred. Scientific rigor and attention to detail are essential,
and creativity and an ability to see the bigger picture are a great plus. This
is a high-energy and highly interactive position where excellent personal
skills, including a sense of humor, are vital. Strong writing skills are also
key. Harvard will not sponsor work authorization/visa for this position. To apply,
please submit a cover letter and CV to email@example.com and write Paulsson Associate Lab Director in the Subject.
