Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on multi-cellular 3D cancer models. The post will be based in the group of Professor Frances Balkwill, Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London in the Charterhouse Square Campus but will collaborate with the partners of the Cancer Research UK City of London (CRUK CoL) Centre.

The postholder will undertake research investigations under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and CRUK CoL Centre collaborators to contribute to the development of multi-cellular 3D cancer models for assessing novel biological therapies. The project will also involve a range of different molecular and cell biology techniques relevant to cancer research. The candidate will join an highly collaborative and interactive team with strong links.

Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant tissue engineering or biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological or engineering subject. Research laboratory experience in cell biology is essential. Experience in the field of bioengineering and appropriate publication records would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is full time and will be initially for three years.Starting salary will be £37,411 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.
